We're delighted to announce that work can begin on a new extension for Peebles Nursing Home, after Scottish Borders Council awarded full planning consent.
The SBC planning department’s decision paves the way for major improvements, as part of restoration work needed after last winter’s flooding. Many of you will be aware that Peebles Nursing Home was hit by the exceptional winter flooding of the River Tweed, and residents moved to alternative accommodation in Tweedbank and other Mansfield Care Homes. The new extension works will increase the capacity of the care home from 28 to 32 residents.
SBC's decision will allow us to add several new rooms, and move the communal areas to the front of the house, which will improve the outlook for residents. We are also making further changes to the layout of the building, to allow the home to be run more smoothly, for the benefit of all concerned.
I'd like to take the opportunity to thank our residents, their families, and our hard-working staff for their patience, support and outstanding efforts over the past months. Please be reassured that these improvements won’t delay the reopening of Peebles Nursing Home, and we look forward to welcoming residents and staff back to the refurbished building early next year.
