St John’s is a lovely stone villa in the pretty Scottish Borders village of Melrose. The house has stunning views onto the Eildon Hills, and is within walking distance of the village square, shops and cafés.
St John’s is a small nursing home with a peaceful, exclusive atmosphere. It offers an unusual amount of privacy and independence, with residents encouraged to invite visitors for private dining in their rooms. We find many St John’s residents enjoy quieter activities such as craft demonstrations, classical music, readings and poetry, and there is a well-used library.
We have a beautiful mature garden that provides an abundance of fruit and vegetables which are used in several of our care homes. Active residents are encouraged to get involved in the garden, and often help with pickling beetroot and picking raspberries. Favourite outings include Melrose Book Festival, Melrose Abbey, Melrose Rugby Sevens, and the nearby cafes and garden centre.
St John’s is a small care home with outstanding en suite accommodation for up to 17 residents, as well communal areas and gardens which are open to residents and visitors. The original building has a sympathetically designed extension, and each ground floor room has a French window leading out onto the garden.

I like the peace and quiet and the good meals.
