Galahill House is a beautiful stone villa in a quiet residential area in the Scottish Borders town of Galashiels, looking out across the valley. The mature landscaped gardens include pretty rockeries, a fish pond and birch and copper beech trees, as well as peaceful suntraps for sitting out. Galahill offers the peace and tranquillity of the countryside, yet is close enough to the town for residents to use the shops and amenities if they wish.
Galahill House has a warm, friendly atmosphere, and the house itself is bright and sunlit, with high ceilings, period features and a sense of space. Rooms in the sympathetically designed modern extension all have French windows leading out onto the secluded patio garden. Our dedicated staff are there to make sure our residents enjoy the best possible care and activities for groups and individuals.
Residents at Galahill House enjoy a regular programme of games, activities, and visits to local churches and coffee shops, as well as Melrose Book Festival, Melrose Abbey, and Traquair House. Other favourites include the Gala Braw Lads’ parade and our ‘Memory Lane’ interactive museum, which has been featured on BBC TV. We also arrange seasonal events such as our Summer Garden Party and Halloween fun days. Activities are important for memories, and if families are unable to attend, we keep an album of past events so that these precious moments can be relived when families can get together. We actively encourage families to be as involved as possible in our events.
Galahill House is a traditional house which provides generous accommodation for up to 24 residents, including double rooms for couples.
