Happy Easter to all residents, relatives and friends from everyone at Mansfield Care! At the moment, the sun is shining, and spring is definitely in the air. Here’s hoping that the bright weather continues, and that we have a better summer than last year.
After the upheaval following the flooding in Peebles, our residents have found now found new accommodation at Craw Wood in Tweedbank. We’re delighted to report that everyone seems to have settled in quickly. Craw Wood is a short walk from the well-known Herge’s Restaurant on the loch, and residents and staff have already been along to visit the café.
The facilities are excellent at Craw Wood, and the house has a lovely enclosed garden which catches the sun. We’ve had a couple of meetings with volunteers who are going to help with the garden, and residents are looking forward to enjoying some of the summer outdoors.
Meanwhile, refurbishment work has started on our Peebles care home. Timbers and plasterboard have been stripped out, and we’re waiting while everything dries completely. Since this is a complete refurbishment, we’re looking at taking the opportunity to tweak the building layout, and have been discussing this with local architects.
In other news, life at our other care homes is quiet and stable as usual, and we now have a new manager at St John’s Care Home in Galashiels. Katrina is settling in well, and we’d like to take the opportunity to welcome her to the Mansfield Care team.
There’s been excitement for Belleville residents, meanwhile, with a visit from a film crew! The team were commissioned by Care Inspectorate Scotland to make a film about elderly people engaging with communities. We're looking forward to seeing the results.
Look out for the Easter Bunny visiting our care homes this weekend! Wishing you a lovely Easter, and hoping to see you out enjoying the garden soon.
